Australia currently facing a shortage of teachers, particularly in maths, design and technology, and science. Data from the Herald showed that last year, over 100,000 students in New South Wales were being taught by individuals who needed more expertise in their respective subjects.

This week, Western Australia opened its skilled migration program and tripled its sponsorship numbers compared to the last financial year with more than 8000 allocations available In addition to the increase in allocation, Western Australia has also relaxed its migration requirements in order to help address skill shortages.

Last Thursday, South Australian Government reopened their Skilled and Business Migration Program for both overseas talents and onshore skilled migrants. The number of occupations opened for offshore applicants has returned to pre-pandemic levels with more than 470 occupations for FY 2022-23 program.
