NSW, planning to scrap two-year work qualifications for teachers to address shortage

Australia currently facing a shortage of teachers, particularly in maths, design and technology, and science. Data from the Herald showed that last year, over 100,000 students in New South Wales were being taught by individuals who needed more expertise in their respective subjects.
A two-year qualification degree would be replaced by a one-year program
Under a significant revamp aimed at addressing chronic staff shortages in schools, particularly in maths and science, two-year post-graduate teaching degrees will be abolished and replaced with a one-year program to attract more aspiring teachers into the classroom.
According to NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet, the education reform is aimed at modernizing the education system and allowing those already in the workforce to pursue a teaching career sooner.
Implementation of the education reform
The proposal will be implemented if the NSW Coalition government wins the re-election in March. Here are the timeline and prerequisites in order to be able to teach under the proposed education reform
Primary school teacher- undergraduate degree holders should be able to finish streamlined postgraduate courses which would be available by 2026
Secondary school teacher- undergraduate degree holders should be able to complete a one-year full-time postgraduate degree which would be available by 2024
