300 Visa Prospective Marriage
Overview
If you are planning to marry an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or an eligible New Zealand citizen, and you are located outside of Australia, you may consider applying for a prospective marriage visa, also commonly known as a fiancé visa. The Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300) is for persons seeking entry to Australia to marry their prospective spouse and with a view to remaining in the country permanently.
Stay Period
9 months from the visa grant date. After which, Subclass 300 visa holders may then apply for subclass 820/801 partner visa to live permanently in Australia.

The primary applicant must be outside Australia to apply for and to be granted the subclass 300 Prospective Marriage visa.

Be sponsored by a prospective spouse
Has met prospective spouse in person
Genuine intention to marry each other and live together as spouses
Sponsorship Criteria
The sponsor must be at least 18 years old and is either:
an Australian citizen; or
an Australian permanent resident; or
an eligible New Zealand citizen.
Sponsorship Limitation
Sponsorship application will not be considered if sponsor:
Was granted a partner visa within the last 5 years
Sponsored a person on a partner visa in the last 5 years
Sponsored more than 2 persons on a partner visa
Benefits
Stay in Australia for between 9 and 15 months from the date the visa is granted
Has to study and work rights
You can travel in and outside Australia while the visa is valid

Step 5: Visa Outcome
You can be in or outside Australia when the department decides your visa application. They will let you know the decision in writing.

Cost
The visa costs AUD7,850 for the main applicant.
There is also a fee for each family member who applies for the visa with you.
You will also pay a fee for your Partner visa. You pay less for this visa if you marry your prospective spouse and apply for the Partner visa before your Prospective Marriage visa ends.
