Becoming a permanent resident will depend on when you first arrived in Australia on a New Zealand Passport. Most New Zealanders are issued with SCV upon arrival.

Those who arrived in Australia between February 27, 2001 and February 26, 2016 may be able to apply for permanent residences and have a direct pathway to Australian Citizenship.
