COVID-19 Family visa concessions

As part of the response to COVID19, the Department of Immigration has confirmed certain family visa concessions that will be in effect. Unlike skilled migration, family visas have separate onshore and offshore visa categories that determine where the applicant must be located at the time of decision.

  • If an offshore application was lodged - applicant must be outside Australia at time of application and time of decision

  • If an onshore application was lodged - applicant must be in Australia at time of lodgment and time of decision
