Eligibility and Requirements

417 Visa - Working Holiday Eligibility and Requirements:

• First Working Holiday Visa

  • You must be 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) - except for Canadian, French and Irish citizens who can be 18 to 35 years old (inclusive)

  • ​​​​​​​​​You must have a passport from an eligible country or jurisdiction

  • You must be able to financially support yourself while you are in Australia

  • You must meet the health requirement

  • You must meet the character requirement

• Second and Third Working Holiday Visa

  • You must have completed 3-6 months of specified 417 visa work​​​

  • If you are in Australia, you must hold a substantive visa or your last substantive visa expired less than 28 days ago

462 Visa - Work and Holiday Eligibility and Requirements:

• First Work and Holiday Visa

  • ​​​​​​​​​You must have a passport from an eligible country or jurisdiction

  • You can apply for a second Working Holiday visa if you meet certain eligibility criteria

  • You must have at least functional English 

  • You must be able to support yourself while you are in Australia

  • You must meet the English requirements

  • You must give a letter of support from the government if you are from:

    • Ecuador

    • Greece

    • Indonesia

    • Luxembourg

    • Malaysia (Good Conduct Certificate)

    • Peru

    • Poland

    • San Marino

    • Slovenia

    • Thailand

    • Turkey

    • Uruguay

• Second and Third 462 Work and Holiday Visa

  • You must have completed 3 months of specified 462 visa work​

  • If in Australia, hold a substantive visa or your last substantive visa expired less than 28 days ago​​

Education Requirement

• You must have:

  • Have a tertiary qualification or 

  • Have completed 2 years of undergraduate university study

• These are acceptable tertiary qualifications

  • Degrees 

  • Graduate certificates 

  • Diplomas

• These qualifications are not acceptable tertiary qualifications

  • Certificates

  • Senior Secondary Certificate of Education

• Country of Passport: Chile

  • You must have:

    • Have a tertiary qualification or 

    • Have completed or been approved to do the third year of undergraduate university study

  • These are acceptable tertiary qualifications

    • Degrees 

    • Graduate certificates 

    • Diplomas

  • These qualifications are not acceptable tertiary qualifications

    • Certificates

    • Senior Secondary Certificate of Education

• Country of Passport: Israel

  • You must hold a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education and have either 

    • Completed military service or

    • Be legally exempt from military service

• Country of Passport: Malaysia

  • You must have

    • Have a tertiary qualification or 

    • Have completed 2 years of undergraduate university study 

  • These are acceptable tertiary qualifications 

    • Degrees 

    • Graduate certificates 

    • Diplomas

  • These qualifications are not acceptable tertiary qualifications 

    • Advanced diploma

    • Diploma

    • Certificate I-IV

    • Senior secondary certificate of Education

• Country of Passport: Thailand

  • You must either

    • A diploma or 

    • A degree

• Country of Passport: United States of America

  • You must have a senior secondary certificate of education or equivalent
