Skilled—Recognised Graduate (SC 476) Visa in July 2024?

Highlights

Did you know Australia is planning to abolish the Skilled—Recognised Graduate (SC 476) Visa in July 2024? This temporary visa is a gateway for fresh engineering graduates to live, work, and study in Australia for 18 months.

What to do before the SC 476 visa ends?

Last December 19, 2023, the Australian government restricted the intake of SC 476 visas and created a capacity limit of 3,735 placements. In addition, the Department of Home Affairs will only accept applications from December 2023 to June 30, 2024. As a fresh graduate engineer, you only have less than 6 months to process your application, and here are the steps you should take to have higher chances of a visa grant:

  • Check your passport and any existing visa conditions

    • The passport should be valid

    • Your visa shouldn’t have a “no further stay” condition

  • Gather your documents

    • Documents that prove your identity

    • Documents that prove your engineering qualifications from a specified educational institution

    • English language test results

    • Police certification for your character requirement proof
