Australia Want You! - Fast-Tracked Skills Assessment Incentives for Onshore Migrants

While the Australian economy continues to move forward from the global impact of COVID-19, skilled labour demand peaks and opened doors for onshore skilled migrants. To help address these workforce demands, the Australian Government introduced three migrant skills incentives.

28 February 2022

Incentive 1 - Faster Skills Assessment

Fast-tracked skills assessment for onshore migrants who submitted and paid for an application in priority occupations and currently waiting for the outcome/result.

Incentive 2 - Skills Assessment Opportunities

Free and fast-tracked skills assessment for onshore migrants who hold a permanent family, partner, humanitarian or refugee visa.

To commence in mid-2022

Incentive 3 - Employability Assessment

Free employability assessment and access to subsidised training for onshore migrants who previously received a suitable skills assessment outcome in a priority occupation. The subsidised training will help the skilled migrant to gain specific skills required in the Australian job market

Around 9,500 onshore migrants will be able to access free, fast-tracked skills assessment, employability assessment and subsidised training to help skilled migrants gain specific skills required. A win-win scenario that will aid Australian businesses’ workforce demand.

Incentive 1 - Faster Skills Assessments

As mentioned above, the Faster Skills Assessments incentive is a fast-tracked skills assessment for onshore migrants who already submitted and paid for their application within the priority occupation and are currently waiting for the result.

Eligibility

  • You are living in Australia when you submitted and paid for your skills assessment application

  • You submitted a skills assessment on or before 28 February 2022

  • You applied for a skills assessment in a priority occupation

  • You haven’t received the outcome of your skills assessment application

If you meet the criteria above, your Assessing Authority will automatically fast-track your skills assessment. You don’t need to apply for this incentive and there’s no additional cost. This incentive commenced last 28 February and will finish on 17 June this year. Your Assessing Authority will likely complete your skills assessment in 15 business days upon receiving all necessary documentation.
