Frequently Asked Questions
-
If you do not have at least 2 years of full-time or equivalent, paid experience in your occupation, you would need to look towards the 407 Training visa instead which requires only 1 year of experience in the past 2 years.
-
If you leave your employer for a new job, you have 60 days for your new employer to submit a new Nomination application. If this application is not submitted within 60 days, your 482 visas will be canceled.
-
The only way to become a PR without getting a skills assessment is to occupy the long-term list that does not need a skills assessment for a 482 visa and to work for that employer for 3 years under the 482 visa and then apply for the 186 visas under the transitional pathway.
-
If your occupation is on the short-term list and your employer is sponsoring you on a 482 visa, then your best chance at permanent residency would be through the 494 Regional Employer Sponsored visa. This is a great option if your employer has branches or offices in regional Australian cities that you could be transferred to.
-
If you have just under 2 years of experience, you can still submit a 482 visa application as the 2-year experience requirement needs to be met when the Department decides to grant the visa, not at the time you apply.
-
Depends on the visa. The 482, 186 and 494 visas allow part-time work experience to be considered on a pro-rata basis, however, it must be skilled work experience. Internship or traineeship experience may not be recognised.
