Visa Application Charge to rise on July
May 20, 2015

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) has announced a rise in visa application charges following the release of the federal budget 2015-16. The majority of visa application charges have been increased in line with inflation or to cover increased costs where sustained volume is expected. The exceptions to this are the dramatic increases to significant investor and offshore partner visa application charges.

Noteworthy increases include:
•    2.35% for General Skilled Migration, Skilled Graduate, 457, Visitor and Student streams
•    5%increase for Short Term Business, Entertainment, Working Holiday, Resident Return, Retirement and Contributory Parent streams
•    10% increase for Remaining Relative, Carer, Aged Dependent Relative and Non-Contributory Parent visas
•    50% increase for Significant Investor and Offshore Partner visas*.

The rise in visa application charges is expected to raise over $440 million for the budget in the next 4 years.

Alliance International Migration Services (AIMS) pays close attention to all changes to the migration law. Our professional team can not only offer our clients the most up to date advice, but also advanced warning as to any proposed changes to the immigration law.

* If you are considering lodging an offshore partner visa there is still time to successfully lodge the application before the 1st of July 2015. This rise brings the Visa Application Charge for offshore partner visas in line with their onshore counterpart, AUD 6865.
