Temporary Activity Visa – Subclass 408
April 23, 2020

About Subclass 408

A subclass 408 is for skilled migrants who would like to undertake specific work in Australia for a specified short-term period. This visa allows its holder to do a wide array of activities such as participating in a research project, religious work, high-level sports competition among others. The length of stay is dependent on the type of activity an applicant intends to do.

What Are My Options?

1.Exchange Arrangements
This arrangement allows a person to work a position under reciprocal staff exchange in hopes of broadening cultural understanding, knowledge, and experience. These activities could be granted with a visa for up to 2 years.

2. Special Program
These activities allow a person to engage in special programs such as youth exchange and cultural enrichment. These activities could be granted with a visa for up to 12 months.

3. Religious Work
This allows a person to engage in religious activities in Australia with a visa up to 2 years.

 4. Research Activities
These activities allow a person to participate in an Australian research project with an accepted invitation. In other cases, a person can undertake a research activity in an Australian institution within their related field of study. These activities could be granted with a visa for up to 2 years.

5. Sporting Activities
This allows a foreign coach or athlete to engage in high-level sports training programs. These activities could be granted with a visa for up to 2 years.

6. Entertainer
This allows a person to engage in the entertainment industry such as television, live production, and other behind the scene roles (e.g. directing and producing). These activities could be granted with a visa for up to 2 years.

7. Superyacht Crew
This is for onboard crew members in an Australian superyacht. Employed crew members could be granted a visa for up to 12 months.

8. Australian Government Endorsed Event
This is for people who will be joining a major even endorsed by the Australian government. These activities could be granted with a visa for up to 4 years.

9. Domestic Work for Executives
This allows a person to engage in full-time work for a senior foreign executive’s household. These activities could be granted with a visa for up to 2 years.

10. Invited Participants (Invited for other social & cultural activities)
This is for people invited by an eligible organization in Australia for the purpose of taking part in a cultural of social event. These activities could be granted with a visa for up to 3 years.

Am I Eligible?

  • You must have the skills to take the activities need to carry out in Australia
  • You only intend to remain in the country to do work/activities specified in your application
  • You are capable of funding your expenses (and your eligible family member you include to your application) during your stay in Australia.
  • You must have sufficient health insurance during your stay in Australia.

Our Process

Step 1: Book Your Consultation
The first essential step in your migration process is to book a consultation. This is the stage where we identify the best and most suitable pathway for your circumstances.

Step 2: Personalized Migration Action Plan (MAP)
After attending a consultation with us, we will provide you with a personalized MAP. This includes a checklist where we tell you how to prepare relevant documents and samples if necessary.

Step 3: Collection, Review, and Drafting
An application is not just about the submission of documents – it also includes the process of reviewing the documents to make sure that they are up to standard. What we mean by this is to ensure that every piece of documentation that we submit has been carefully reviewed by our migration specialists based on the standard of the Department of Immigration.

Step 4: Lodgment and Submission
Here at Think Visa, we prepare what we like to call, Decision Ready Applications. This means that applications prepared by us are not only of high standard but also organized in a manner that is easy for the case officer to decide on and therefore significantly reducing processing time for you. There are circumstances that might require you to provide additional information in which we try to anticipate beforehand.
